WEDDING CEREMONY OF KOCH COMMUNITY IN BANGLADESH | কোচদের বিয়ে
This film depicts the colorful Wedding Ceremony of Koch people living in Shribordi, Jhinaigati and Nalitabari of Sherpur district. The Koches are one of the oldest small ethnic groups living in Bangladesh. Most of these Koch believe in Sonaton Hindu religion. They possess a rich historical, social and cultural heritage. Their distinctive culture is reflected in their festivals, dance, music and life style. The wedding ceremony is very interesting in Koch community. Usually the marriage is finalised by a match maker called ghatak among two families. During wedding ceremony, they offer sacrifice to the god of fire and perform some traditional tasks according to the rituals of the Koch. The marriage ceremony completes with the placing of vermilion. The bridegroom moves to her husband's house after marriage.
